Numerical Analysis of the Casting Process

 

Formulation of the numerical model

 

 

The virtual solid model provides the geometry for building the finite element model used to perform the numerical simulations of the casting process. The thermo-physical parameters of the different materials involved in the process are set in the software, together with the necessary boundary conditions, such as the temperature and the velocity of titanium at the feeders. The numerical simulations are then carried out by means of the Control Volume Method. Different boundary conditions can be applied to the model in order to simulate casting processes characterised by different parameters.
