Production of a titanium bar through casting

The result of casting is shown above. The titanium bar is attached to the surplus material filling the mould. This surplus material is mechanically removed in order to obtain the bar clean from every refuse.

Different views of the titanium frame are shown above. A preliminary analysis shows a few defects on the frame surface (defects are indicated by the yellow arrows). These surface defects are due to macro-porosity or to excess of titanium.

The bar is shown here together with the six cylinders used for connecting the bar to the implants. A first mechanical cleaning has been performed.
